Port Arthur is a charming village, known for the penal colony buildings. This historic site is UNECSO World Heritage listed. A couple of days, if time permits should be set aside to truly give this historic penal colony and the quaint town of Port Arthur justice. About 55 kms south of Hobart is the town of Cygnett where the renowned Cygnet Folk Festival is held, which began in 1982. The 3 day (January) festival attracts local, interstate and overseas performers who perform for crowds of 4,000 to 5,000 visitors. New Norfolk is located on the picturesque Derwent River 35 kms from Hobart. The town, with its gourmet restaurants and cute Cafes together with river, mountain and valley views makes a stay here a memorable one. All the bed and breakfast properties we have listed in New Norfolk are truly striking. Bruny Island is another worthy destination while touring the Apple Isle. Accessed by (vehicular) ferry is just under 60 kms from Hobart and a short cruise across Adventure Bay. Bruny Island is home of fabulous beaches, breathtaking scenery and dramatic coastlines with a multitude of activities and wonderful dining options. Houn Valley is famous for its crunchy firm apples, together with apricots, plums, cherries, pears and Huon Pine trees. Take advantage of the occasional roadside produce as you tour around the picturesque countryside of fields and orchards.
